“Happiness Series -2- Divorce”

The ultimate goal of life is to be happy. We have all heard it, believe in it, chase it and yet it eludes us most of the time. So you may be at the juncture of a life altering situation- Divorce, A breakup,Legal Dates, Financial Questions, Kids psychological effects and more. Can Divorce really put you in a Happier place?

As I talked to my friends over the years, I noted my findings and annotated with research studies came to the conclusions as below. Please feel free to share your feedback if you disagree by commenting below or on our Facebook Page.

  1. Women are more likely than men to seek help for the emotional trauma caused by reaching out to friends, family, therapists or orgs like Sanjeevani4u  while men tend to keep it close to their brains.

Not reaching out for support prolongs their suffering and the time it takes to heal.

  1. Our emotional coping strategies gravitate inward while men look outward. We work on getting our “emotional ducks in a row”, right so we can focus on the future.
  2. Women are reticent to turn to outwardly distractions with drugs, alcohol or other tendencies unlike their genetic counterpart.
  3. We seek out new experiences after divorce, experiences that enrich our lives and give us a sense of hope for the future.
  4. We prioritize our needs by investing in yoga, meditation, a new hobby or just investing more quality time with kids, pets, family or our jobs.
  5. We have a strong sense of perseverance. We multitask with kids after the divorce, hold the home together and manage the bosses at work too. We want to succeed and we are able to inherently juggle and persevere.
  6. Women aren’t immediately looking for a replacement part, since the warranty of marriage failed. We are comfortable in who we are and we don’t need a man to buy us a diamond, do we?
