This is a story shared by a Sanjeevani friend and follower: ------------- " I am a yoga teacher by profession and live in the city. Yesterday, we had first snow fall and it becomes chaotic esp in city for parking, traffic etc. Even though I am to be calm and in control but being human, I became a little grumpy trying to find a parking and treading on the snow fallen pavements and roads. And then I saw a man coming from the other end and he had a 3-4 year old kid perched on his shoulders. Smile!

Smile!

Blog
Generally in my morning walk - I see regular walkers & runners and we always exchange a smile, a wave or a greeting. Most of these are from my own area and neighborhood. For the last few weeks, had been seeing a new gentleman in the path. He never reciprocated the greeting or smile. A few days into, I thought - huh - I won't greet either but the better of the mind took over instantly and I continued the morning greet. After all, it was an action of a tiny muscle on the sides of the lips, perhaps a minimal effort of my hand and two words out from my mouth. Big deal - also it is better to change oneself and having no ability to change others. I also…

Depression to Expression

In order to understand how to deal with depression, we have to first understand what depression is. Depression is such a state in your system, wherein your own body and mind stops taking instruction from you and starts behaving in a compulsive way. This simple understanding can be the first step taken towards healing depression.  Why do we get depressed? When things does not happen your way, when things are not under your control anymore, or you get upset and eventually such series of incidents makes you depressed. Depression if not handled soon can be very much self-damaging. Mostly, depressions are self-created, because you keep pushing the thin line which exists between sanity and insanity.  When you are sad, when you are angry, or when you are mad at somebody,…

The Cycle (of expectations and disappointments)

Blog
This is how most of the people will define life. It is a perpetual cycle of expectations and disappointments. I was searching my answer for, why we get sad and I believe that, most of the times we get sad or mad is because we have these expectations from others and from ourselves. When these expectations are not met. We feel betrayed and disappointed. Let’s start with the basic question, what is expectation? In my understanding about life, expectations came in to existence for the benefit of this world but like everything else we twisted and ruined it. Let me explain – If you observe nature or universe, there is an internal force or some power that keeps everything in balance. Every tiny particle is kept under check because there…
