2019 April – Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assault

Sanjeevani  conducted its second quarter talk event for 2019 on sexual assault and domestic violence on 20th April, 2019 at Naperville library at 95th street, Naperville from 2.30pm – 4pm. The objective of this free event is to spread awareness in the community about these issues and to arm the audience with information, precautionary measures, tools and resources they may require to deal with them.

The event had two guest speakers- Saira Sial and Arti Persaud, both of whom are highly accomplished and seasoned mental health professionals. They together addressed issues like sexual assault, marital rape, relationship issues and mental health coping for domestic abuse survivors.
Arti Persaud is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor (LCPC) currently working at Core Psychotherapy Centre, Schaumburg. She is an MA in clinical psychology from Argosy University and has worked in the field since 2000 in varying capacities and multiple clinical settings. She specializes in working with domestic violence, teen dating violence, prevention education, child welfare system, child abuse and neglect, complex child and adult trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, dissociation, special populations, crisis intervention, infertility issues, grief and loss and sexual assault.
Siara Sial is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) at Lake County Health Department and Community Services. She is an MS in Clinical Counselling from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She has profound experience in dealing with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly in the area of mental health issues like drug addiction, substance abuse, Alzheimer’s, dementia, speech and vocabulary problems amongst special needs children etc.
This talk event is a part of Sanjeevani’s ongoing effort to build awareness on a consistent basis in the areas of mental health, domestic violence and related issues.
